Musings of a Recovering Lutheran: Today's verse
I heard the voice of the Lord, saying,

Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?

Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Hi:
I saw your comments on The Old Geezer's blog. I couldn't help but see 'recovering Lutheran'... my dad was an evangelist who was raised in the lutheran church and they ended up ousting him for teaching about prayer. Years later, the same churches invited him back to teach their people about prayer. Read their story here:

When dad was raised, by a lutheran minister dad & grand dad, he was taught 'what is truly Biblical is truly Lutheran'... oh boy, did God change his world!

Blessings!

Happy New Year From Southern California.

Don't forget to watch the 122nd Rose Parade on New Year's Day coming from Pasadena, California...only 30 miles from The Old Geezer's home :-) If you miss the live telecast, I'm sure there will be lots of reruns through out the day.

Thanks for the link you sent! It is a fascinating story.

Interesting that the Lutheran attitude about prayer has maintained a degree of consistency over the years. Many Lutherans today seem to be terrified of doing anything that can be remotely considered "evangelical", and the includes any kind of spontaneous praying. In Tanzania, there was more of an evangelical feeling in the Lutheran churches I attended. May you and your family be blessed this 2011!

Thank you for your kind words! I don't know when I will get around to doing any kind of changes on my website. Most likely I will wait until summer. This upcoming semester promises to be a rough one, since my wife will be completing work on her BA degree while I am taking a class for a MS degree while teaching. Still - it is better to wear out than rust out! May you and your family be blessed in this new year!
