Musings of a Recovering Lutheran: Update on Asia Bibi
I heard the voice of the Lord, saying,

Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?

Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Update on Asia Bibi

Human rights activists and a former President of the UN General Assembly have appealed to the government of Pakistan to release Asia Bibi. The Voice of the Martyrs online petition calling for the release of Asia Bibi can be found here.

Meanwhile, another woman in Pakistan has been accused of blasphemy. Key quote from the article:

In the meantime, another young Christian woman has been accused of blasphemy in Pakistan. Police in the district of Bahawalnagar, Lahore, charged Shamim, 26, the mother of a five-month baby girl, with insulting the Prophet Muhammad. The alleged incident occurred on 28 February of this year and became public yesterday when she was taken into custody by police. According to her family, Shamim was unjustly accused because she refused to convert to Islam. The accusations came from relatives who had recently converted.

Never forget the price that many must pay in order to follow Christ.

For those who do not know who she is, here is the story about Asia Bibi's unjust imprisonment and death sentence for "blasphemy" against the Prophet Muhammad.

Please continue to pray for Asia Bibi and her family.

Five month old baby girl... Dear God, may you have mercy on us all.

Strength, love and hope - grant us your grace that we may somehow claw our way out of this dark world we're in!

For shame.

My prayers are with this young family as well.
