Musings of a Recovering Lutheran: Update on Asia Bibi
I heard the voice of the Lord, saying,

Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?

Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Update on Asia Bibi

Muslim cleric Muhammad Salim asserts that if Asia Bibi is pardoned and released by the government, someone will end up killing her anyway. "Any Muslim, if given the chance, would kill such a person. You would be rewarded in heaven for it," he said in an interview from the Los Angeles Times. The article goes on to note that Pakistan's blasphemy laws are being used against other Muslims as well as non-Muslims.

There seems to have been a recent change in the tone of the media's coverage of Islam and persecution of Christians. After the 9-11 attacks the media seemed to adopt a "see no evil" approach to covering issues relating to Islam. Story after story fretted about Islamophobia, which was allegedly rampant in American society. But this article - along with a number of others - seems to have abandoned that narrative. Here is hoping that this trend continues, and that secular journalists will become more interested in reporting the news instead of trying to manipulate it.

Please continue to pray for Asia Bibi and her family.
